ACFO-ACAF is pleased to be launching the EDI Learning Series, which is a series of online webinars across the fall for ACFO-ACAF members to come together over the lunch hour to discuss topics related to equity, diversity and inclusion. These sessions will offer you a time to listen, learn and reflect.
The first session will cover Indigenous Peoples in Canada and take place on Wednesday, September 7, in English from 12:00 – 1:30 pm ET on Microsoft Teams. ACFO-ACAF has partnered with trained Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada facilitators to cover multiple topics, including:
- key similarities / differences and shared history between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Peoples;
- the impact of residential schools, racism and microaggressions;
- building relationships; and
- the process of individual and collective reflection on reconciliation.
In light of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30, we encourage all members to take the time to attend this workshop to acknowledge and better understand the history and current realities of Indigenous Peoples in Canada. Reconciliation is an ongoing process rooted in action, both for us as individuals and as members of our communities.
There is no need to RSVP. Simply contact Rex Tshibanda, at rtshibanda@acfo-acaf.com, to receive the link that will grant you access to the seminar.
For any questions about the webinar, please contact Stéphanie Rochon Perras, Director of Job Evaluation and Equity, at srochon@acfo-acaf.com or 1-877-728-0695 ext. 235.
We look forward to hosting you at our first EDI Learning Series session and hope you find it informative. We will communicate about future EDI Learning Series sessions in the coming months and acknowledge that the ACFO-ACAF office is located on the traditional unceded, unsurrendered Territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin people.
