The ACFO-ACAF State of the Community survey is an annual, comprehensive survey of all ACFO-ACAF members. It allows us to collect information about the demographics, workplace satisfaction and professional development experiences of our members on a department-by-department basis. The survey will take about 20 minutes to complete, and your confidentiality and anonymity are strictly protected.

Purpose of the survey

The State of the Community survey gives us a yearly snapshot of the demographics, work conditions and career satisfaction of our members. It is one of the most important tools we have when it comes to advocating for you at the bargaining table, in grievances and in advocacy work.

After the survey closes, we share the aggregate data with our members, along with department CFOs to help shed light on any issues or areas for improvement we identify. Our Labour Relations team uses the survey data to help prepare for collective bargaining and in grievances.

This year, we have included a series of questions about the inclusiveness and access to professional development opportunities we offer with the hopes that we’ll be able to improve our professional development programs, the Joint Career Development Program (JCDP) and the Comptrollership Training Centre (CTC) in the future.

In order for us to use the State of the Community survey data to help advocate for you and your fellow CTs in the workplace, we need you to do your part. Too few respondents and the statistical accuracy of the survey is compromised, resulting in the loss of a valuable source of information for ACFO-ACAF and a valuable tool in our advocacy and bargaining toolbox. It is also a loss for CT members who would otherwise be able to compare their department with others and make the best possible choice for their own career development.

Each member’s input is vital. We strongly encourage you to participate and encourage your coworkers to do likewise.

If you have any questions about the survey or how the data will be used, please contact Margaret Johnston at mjohnston@acfo-acaf.com.
