Treasury Board President Jean-Yves Duclos made a statement on May 4, 2021 pertaining to public servants obtaining COVID-19 vaccines over the coming weeks and months.

In the statement, Duclos thanked public servants for their efforts throughout the pandemic and encouraged employees who are able to get vaccinated when they are able. He also included a reminder that public servants have access to up to a half day of paid leave in order to receive their vaccination during work hours. You can find more information on taking paid leave for vaccination appointments here.

Further to Duclos’ statement, ACFO-ACAF reminds its members that vaccines have been tested by hard working, professional public service scientists and experts. Those who are able should get vaccinated as soon as their turn comes up. If you are unable to be vaccinated for medical reasons, the employer has an obligation to accommodate this as part of any return to the workplace plan and you’re encouraged to contact ACFO-ACAF Labour Relations (labourrelations@acfo-acaf.com) for support as required.
