On November 7, the government introduced Bill C-65, which makes changes to harassment provisions in the Canada Labour Code. The Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) welcomed the changes but offered several questions about the specifics of implementation that still need to be addressed. You can find the CLC’s response here.
From an ACFO perspective, we will be analyzing the bill and pushing for a seat at the stakeholders’ working group to see if it addresses some of our concerns with the current harassment policies in the federal public service and at NAV Canada. We have specific concerns about the lack of access to a third-party decision maker when complaints are brought forward.
We will provide updates on this process as the bill makes its way through the legislative process.
