On November 11th each year, we wear a poppy to pay tribute to Canada’s brave men and women in uniform. We remember the heroes who sacrificed so much, and honour those who continue to defend our way of life.

As Canadians, we value democracy, respect for human rights, and the rule of law. We are afforded these rights and freedoms thanks to the selfless dedication of the men and women of the armed forces, past and present, who protect the values that we hold dear.

While it is a small gesture compared to what is asked of them, I urge each of us to take a moment out of our busy lives on Remembrance Day to reflect on the courage and sacrifice made by our armed forces and their families.
