Public Service

The ACFO negotiating team initially exchanged proposals with the employer on September 24th 2009 and three bargaining sessions were held on October 26th-29th and December 15th-17th 2009 and January 20th -22nd 2010. Negotiations had progressed extremely well and the parties were able to conditionally sign off on numerous proposals.  At the conclusion of the January bargaining session ACFO made a comprehensive and fair offer to the employer that addressed all the outstanding proposals.

ACFO anticipated the employer would need a reasonable opportunity to consider our last offer and that there would be a further delay due to the recent federal budget.  We expected to have a response over the course of the past few weeks.

Without a meaningful update on the status of our most recent offer to the employer, ACFO requested further bargaining dates be scheduled in an effort to stimulate further progress towards a renewed contract.

NAV CANADA

ACFO is pleased to report that our members at NAV CANADA have ratified the tentative agreement on March 10, 2010.

The tentative agreement was negotiated during an interest based bargaining session on December 9th through December 11th 2009.  The two-year agreement includes numerous work-life balance improvements and economic increases occurring every six months at rates of 1%, 1%, 1% and 1.5%.  Full details of the agreement will be provided once the agreement is signed and posted to the ACFO website.

ACFO would like to take this opportunity to thank the NAV CANADA bargaining team for their hard work and recognize the employer’s bargaining team for the professional and diligent manner with which negotiations were conducted.
