My fellow CTs,  

Labour Day is our annual reminder to celebrate the unity and strength of the CT Community and to reflect on the challenges that lie ahead for both us and the broader labour movement. 

In the coming months, particularly September 9 and beyond, we anticipate that the CT Community, alongside our fellow public servants, will face a period of uncertainty and turbulence. As public service unions collaborate to address critical issues such as remote work and potential austerity measures, it will be important for public servants to support one another on the frontlines. Managing this uncertainty will require our united efforts at every level. This could include: 

• Sending a letter to your MP, Minister Anand, and Prime Minister Trudeau; 
• Displaying a #RemoteWorks poster, Teams background, or bumper sticker; 
• Sharing your RTO story; 
• Attending rallies hosted or formally promoted by ACFO; 
• Educating yourself on your RTO rights by checking out our RTO resources; and 
• Showing professionalism, respect, and compassion towards your colleagues as we navigate this change together. 

It’s also important to recognize that, while this will be my final Labour Day at ACFO, our staff and Board of Directors remain focused on other critical matters, including pay equity, Phoenix damages, and the CT-IAU pay grid. 

Finally, I’m pleased to announce that ACFO-ACAF will participate in this year’s Labour Day parade in Ottawa. This event offers a valuable chance for us to demonstrate our solidarity and commitment to workers’ rights. I encourage you to join us in celebrating our achievements, whether at the parade or online using #RemoteWorks. 

As we celebrate Labour Day, let’s commit to supporting each other in our shared efforts. Our unity is our greatest strength, and by continuing to work together, we will make a significant impact.
