The events of the last few days have forced all of us to, once again, confront the ongoing impact of systemic racism in our society. And while the eyes of the world are largely turned to the uprisings in the United States, we can’t ignore that anti-Black racism is alive and well in Canada too.
We are proud of the diversity of the membership we serve. We are proud to fight against discrimination in the workplace and we are proud to protect the rights of our members. But we know that it’s critical not to succumb to complacency. We believe all organizations that serve diverse communities have an obligation to regularly review practices, improve training for staff and show support through actions as well as words and we will continue to do so.
We all have a part to play. ACFO-ACAF stands with those who are putting themselves in harm’s way to stand up against racism and discrimination. Black lives matter.
