My friends,

I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you that 2019 was a historic year for the ACFO-ACAF Community. Most significantly, ACFO-ACAF expanded to welcome comptrollers and auditors to our community as part of the CT Group. With the input of our membership, we successfully negotiated the public service FI collective agreement, the Phoenix damages agreement and the agreement for a pay equity joint study. We also launched three new professional development initiatives – the Comptrollership Training Centre, Career Fair and the CV Inventory – thanks in part to your feedback. And to top it all off, ACFO-ACAF celebrated 30 years of service as the union for federal financial professionals.

But for me, the highlights of the past year were the opportunities I had to connect with members of our community. When the creation of the CT Group was announced and ACFO-ACAF held our drive for membership cards, I was incredibly moved and grateful to see that thousands of members took time out of their lives to complete and mail a card.

Holding a record number of Town Halls and Regional Tune Ups through the Joint Career Development Program not only allowed us to offer professional development to more members across the country, it also allowed us to hear more of your experiences, perspectives and input. There is, if you’ll excuse the pun, no greater gift than that.

Looking forward, our community will only continue to grow in size and in strength. I am incredibly excited to formally welcome the comptrollers and auditors in the coming year, and to continue to expand the breadth and depth of the services we offer, from labour relations and membership engagement to professional development and more.

There are still a few weeks left in this year though, so for now, on behalf of everyone at ACFO-ACAF, I want to wish you all a peaceful break and a happy holiday season.

Warmest regards,

Dany Richard, MBA, CPA, CMA, ICD.D
