As the union representing the CT Community, a group of dedicated professionals who continuously strive for excellence in public service, we understand the critical importance of celebrating the important work that you do during National Public Service Week (NPSW) next week. However, the three-day in-office requirement as of September 9, 2024, undermines “recognizing the value of the services rendered by federal public service employees” the week aims to celebrate. This arbitrary decision disregards the successes the community has achieved while working remotely, as well as the personal and professional well-being of public servants.
In light of this, we urge ACFO-ACAF members to stand in solidarity with the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), The Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC), and Canadian Association of Professional Employees (CAPE) members by boycotting National Public Service Week (NPSW). By withdrawing our participation from employer events, we send a powerful message to the government that the current approach to hybrid work is unacceptable and must be reconsidered. Our collective voice is our strength, and by choosing not to participate in NPSW activities, we demonstrate our commitment to a fair and respectful working environment where the contributions and well-being of public servants are genuinely valued.
We encourage you to share this update with your colleagues and to support one another during this challenging time. Together, we can advocate for a more balanced and considerate approach to workplace policies that truly reflect the needs and realities of a modern public service.
Thank you for your continued dedication and support.
