EDI Learning Series: How to be an ally to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community
ACFO-ACAF is happy to announce that we have scheduled our first EDI Learning Series session of 2023. This series of online webinars provides ACFO-ACAF members with an opportunity to come together over the lunch hour and discuss topics related to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Each session will offer you time to listen, learn, and reflect on the information that is presented.
During this next session, attendees will learn how to be an ally to members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community who are transitioning in the workplace. The session will take place on Friday, January 20, in French only from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm ET on Microsoft Teams. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
ACFO-ACAF has partnered with Fondation Émergence to offer this training session, and one of their facilitators will be highlighting multiple topics, including:
- An in-depth look into the concepts of sex, gender, attraction, and gender expression;
- What each part of LGBTQ+ represents;
- The barriers that face members of the LGBTQ+ community in the workplace and their impact; and
- How to be a good ally.
This session will provide members with an opportunity to learn about some of the common issues that the LGBTQ+ community face within the workplace, while also offering solutions that will help to ensure more inclusive spaces for all. The presentation includes a testimonial from a trans person who has gone through a gender transition in the workplace. Anyone who is interested in learning more about the best practices for LGBTQ+ inclusion in the workplace prior to the session can check out this package from Fondation Émergence.
There is no need to RSVP. Simply contact Rex Tshibanda, at rtshibanda@acfo-acaf.com, to receive the link that will grant you access to the seminar.
For any questions about the webinar, please contact Stéphanie Rochon Perras, Director of Job Evaluation and Equity, at srochon@acfo-acaf.com or 1-877-728-0695 ext. 235.
We look forward to hosting you at this EDI Learning Series session and hope you find it informative.
