The strength and professionalism of the FI Community were clearly on display at the fourth annual Award of Excellence for Comptrollership in the Public Sector ceremony recently.

The annual Award ceremony was held on May 8th and a joint team of financial officers from Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) and Agriculture and Agri-Foods Canada (AAFC) were honoured. The joint team included four FIs: Nathalie Paradis, Marie-Claude Pilon, Janne Tubman from NRCAN and Erna Burns of AAFC who were honoured for their ground breaking collaboration to implement a modern, financial, material and project management system for NRCan.

This feather in the cap for the FI Community was followed by the recognition of four Financial Officers who achieved their CMA-PFA designations.  Charlotte Geagea, Angela Lochtie-Crispim, Stephanie Mack and Jillian Moore all received accreditation through the joint program of the UK based Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) and the Certified Management Accountants of Canada (CMA).

The recognition of these Financial Officers reflects well on the entire FI Community, said ACFO President Milt Isaacs. I am proud to be part of the same community as these dedicated professionals. They are truly showing that Financial Officers add more than numbers,“we add value.”
