Full house gathers to hear Romeo Dallaire at ACFO's PD Seminar
Over 300 Financial Officers filled the Ottawa Marriott Hotel’s Victoria Ballroom for ACFO’s second annual professional development seminar on June 5th 2012. FIs across the country participated via live webcast as well to hear the Honourable Senator Roméo Dallaire and Member of Parliament Alexandre Boulerice share their thoughts on leadership.
The seminar was provided courtesy of ACFO to its members as part of the Association’s commitment to promoting continuous personal and professional development for the FI Community.
Alexandre Boulerice spoke about his leadership experience and the challenges he faces representing constituents at the national level, provided candid insight into Jack Layton’s leadership style, and gave advice applying those principles in one’s career.
For those who were unable to participate in the seminar, his presentation is available for viewing at http://www1.webcastcanada.ca/acfoacaf-conference/index.php
Senator Dallaire gave an inspiring keynote address, drawing from his experience leading soldiers as Lieutenant-General in Rwanda. He emphasized that human connection and a strong sense of commitment in what you’re saying are imperative to influence others to follow your lead. He encouraged attendees to follow their moral compass, and urged those in leadership positions to think past day-to-day operations and be strategic about tactics to shape their organizations beyond the five-year timeframe.
General Dallaire’s presentation is under copyright and not available for re-broadcast.
A big thanks to all the FIs who participated, to both exceptional speakers, the master of ceremonies Bryn Weadon, and event sponsors Saikali Wealth Management and CGA PD-Net for helping make the event a success!
