Funding Democracy: Shared, sustainable solutions for global challenges
Governments around the world are currently faced with complex, challenging issues including inequality, corruption, strained public services and controversial trade agreements. These global issues are not new, nor are they the policy of any single government; rather, they are the culmination of decades of political and economic thought that has prioritized interests of the few over the many.
This path we are on is not sustainable; we need to find a better way and we need to find it soon. We need our governments, both current and future, to have the courage to pursue truly workable solutions – and not just for when business and social interests are not in conflict. True solutions must ensure harmonized, sustainable growth.
Funding Democracy is a non-partisan, progressive summit being held in Ottawa June 16-17, 2015. This event will unite global leaders from industry, government, education and NGOs to address issues of taxation, corruption and trade, and to establish solutions for these global problems.
Funding Democracy will provide FIs the valuable opportunity to connect with our colleagues from within Canada and around the world, and to become involved in productive conversations about global challenges faced by the financial officers and the shared best practices to address them.
By learning from global experts and engaging with international peers, we can expand our understanding of the global context for the current realities of financial management and administration in the federal government. We can continue to provide the exceptional standard of financial stewardship Canadians rely on and deserve.
Hope to see you there,
