Public Service and Procurement Canada (PSPC) provided an update last week on overpayments resulting from the ongoing Phoenix pay system issues. As per this update, if you were overpaid and didn’t receive a letter from the pay centre, PSPC is advising that you call the centre at 1-855-686-4729 by January 19, 2018 to have the overpayment recorded in Phoenix.

Once the overpayment is registered, you should receive a confirmation letter from the pay centre. This should help ensure that you receive tax credits and benefits to which you are entitled.

Registering overpayment by the due date should also ensure that T4 and Relevé 1 slips will reflect the correct salary and that you will only be required to repay the net amount instead of the gross amount received. PSPC is advising that if your overpayment is not registered by January 31 you will have to repay the gross amount.

Please note that if you do have to repay the gross amount you do not need to make any repayment until July 2018 to ensure that you are not out of pocket. For more information on overpayments, visit the PSPC website.

If you have an outstanding Phoenix-related issue and you have not yet informed ACFO, please do so as soon as possible so we can support you and advise you of your options. Simply contact labourrelations@acfo-acaf.com and a Labour Relations Advisor will reach out to you.
