We are pleased to inform you that on Wednesday, February 10 the Public Service Labour Relations Board (PSLRB) dismissed Treasury Board’s jurisdictional objection to ACFO’s pay equity complaint.  This means that the PSLRB will hear all aspects of the case, including our allegations that the FI classification standards and the public service classification system are discriminatory.

The Board’s decision is a significant victory for ACFO as it allows us to present our legal arguments in full context within one forum, rather than splitting the case between the PSLRB and the Canadian Human Rights Commission. This will amount to considerable savings for ACFO in both time and financial resources, and will enable us to obtain a complete and final determination of the issues from one decision-making body. The PSLRB is now in a position to schedule a date on which to hear the merits of the case.

The pay equity team is now meeting to conduct a comprehensive review of our legal positions and prepare the presentation of our case. We will keep you updated as the process unfolds.  In the meantime, please contact Vivian Gates at 613-728-0695 ext. 226 if you have any questions.
