Several months ago, you may have received a survey from ACFO regarding the disclosure of wrongdoing in the federal public service and your rights and protections under the Public Servants Disclosure Protection Act.
ACFO has been working closely with the Office of the Public Sector Integrity Commissioner as part of our whistleblower protection work and our analysis of this survey was recently shared (anonymously) with that office and other members of the integrity commissioner’s advisory committee.

Two of the main themes that emerged from that survey were that members of the FI Community find the landscape around whistleblower protection complicated and confusing; and that members of the FI Community are concerned about reprisals or payback if they report on the activities of people more senior to them.
It’s important to remember that any call to ACFO is kept in strict confidence. The ACFO Labour Relations team can advise you of your options and help bring clarity to what can be a confusing and overwhelming process. We can also call in independent third-party experts to advise on the merits of your case or whether or not what you’ve identified meets the criteria for wrongdoing under the current legislation without disclosing your identity.
The FI Community plays a vital role in guaranteeing the integrity of the public service financial management system. ACFO’s role is to help you play this function.
If you believe you’ve witnessed wrongdoing in the workplace, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. We’re here for you.
